David B. Alvarez, a native West Virginian, is a recognized owner, business leader and established serial entrepreneur, who remains very active in development, industry and community work.
Alvarez has extensive experience in a wide range of enterprises, serving in various roles from frontline duties to top management positions. Upon graduating from Bridgeport High School, David earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from West Virginia University (WVU). Early in his career, he was instrumental in growing the family’s business into a well-respected company, primarily serving the North Eastern natural gas markets and bridge construction throughout West Virginia.
Alvarez has started and grown a number of successful companies that continue to benefit North Central West Virginia, Southwestern Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia. These companies now employee over 700, the majority being residents within the operating areas of the companies. Alvarez present companies include Applied Construction Solutions, Applied Home Solutions, East Pointe Auto Spa, Elite Mid-Stream, LLC, Energy Transportation, LLC, Enviro-Energy Solutions, LLC, Energy Resource Group, LLC, and Quantum Environmental, LLC. He is also a principal partner with Bear Contracting, LLC and The Wonder Bar Steak House, Bridgeport WV.
Alvarez currently serves as Board Chairman of MVB Financial Corp. which includes MVB Bank, Inc., MVB Mortgage and MVB Community Development Corporation. He presently is Vice Chair of The West Virginia University Board of Governors and a member of the Richmond Federal Reserve Industry Roundtable. David also serves on the Boards of The Harrison County Development Authority and Medbrook Children’s Charity.
Alvarez is a past president of the Contractors Association of WV, WV Utility Contractors, Associated Builders and Contractors, and the American Society of Highway Engineers. He has also served as Chairman of the Mountain State Chapter of the YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization), the United Health Foundation and the WVU athletic Development Council. Other Alvarez leadership roles have included Vice Chairman of the United Hospital Center Board and Vice President of the West Virginia University Alumni Association.
Alvarez is very active in a number of community philanthropic efforts. In 2008, he received the Federal Bureau of Investigations national FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award, in part, for his efforts in helping build the Harrison County Law Enforcement Firearms Range. The FBI further recognized him for being a long-time supporter of the Genesis Youth Crisis Center, Inc., a shelter for abandoned and abused children, where he worked closely with the Board of Directors, providing site construction and financial assistance, during the building of their Alta Vista Children’s Shelter.
As a member of WVU’s Mountaineer Athletic Club, Alvarez helped form a partnership among the WVU Athletic Department, the FBI CJIS Division, and the American Football Coaches Association. This partnership has resulted in the distribution of hundreds of thousands of Child ID Kits at WVU football games and many other college venues over the past several years.
David is married to Kimberly Mossor, a native of Parkersburg, WV. They have four children and two son-in-laws; Andria and her husband Quinn Wymer, Laura and her husband Alex Sutton, Kara and David (II). David and his family are members of the All Saints Catholic Church, in Bridgeport, WV, where he and his family reside.
