East End Village: A Bold New Chapter for Morgantown’s East End
Morgantown’s East End is undergoing a remarkable transformation, thanks to the ambitious East End Village development. Spearheaded by Metro Property Management developer Dave Biafora, with significant support from the Monongalia County Development Authority, the City of Morgantown, Monongalia County, and West Virginia University, this project is set to redefine urban living in the area.
Situated along Richwood Avenue, the 10-acre site has seen the demolition of 58 outdated structures, paving the way for a vibrant mixed-use community. The development plans include over 300 market-rate apartments, condos, and townhomes, complemented by retail suites, a grocery store, a hotel, and various upscale amenities—all within walking distance of downtown Morgantown.
The design, crafted by Omni Associates Architects in collaboration with Biafora, aims to create a neighborhood that seamlessly blends residential, commercial, and recreational spaces. The vision is to foster a small, neighborhood-type retail environment that supports increased housing and offers additional activity spaces.
Financial backing from local entities underscores the community’s commitment to this project. The Monongalia County Development Authority’s $11.8 million purchase of the property from the Giuliani family exemplifies this support. Jay Rogers, project manager at Omni Associates Architects, highlighted the collaborative effort, stating, “Everybody from the City of Morgantown to the Monongalia County Commission, the Monongalia County Development Authority, and a proven commodity in your developer (Biafora) has a vision and is able to execute that vision.”
