Max Hammer has been on a bike since he was a toddler. He came of age on the trails surrounding Phoenix, Arizona, in the 1980s just as mountain biking was sweeping the western United States. Max raced several disciplines through the late 80s and early 90s, including dual slalom, which took him to the 1990 World Championship. He has raced alongside some of the nation’s preeminent riders on the most challenging terrain.

These days, Max is proud to call the Greenbrier Valley home where he owns Hammer Cycles, a full-service bicycle shop in downtown White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. He offers a lifetime of expertise honed on backcountry trails and racecourses to the community he loves. In his downtime, he serves as head coach of the Greenbrier Valley Hellbenders Youth Mountain Bike Team.
