Born in Asbury Park, New Jersey, René Jorge is a professional Chef and owner of Sauté by René of Morgantown.

Growing up in the diverse and Spanish-speaking community of Asbury Park, it was here that she fell in love with the art of cooking.

After high school, Jorge moved to New York City to pursue a career in culinary arts from the Institute of Culinary Education. Jorge enjoyed a fruitful career working alongside renowned chefs such as Alfred Portale of Gotham Bar and Grill, Tom Colicchio of the Gramercy Tavern, and Scott Bryant of Vetras All.

After some years in the Big Apple, Jorge’s family packed up the bags and moved to Minnesota and then to West Virginia. A stay-at-home mother at that time, she determined to begin cooking again, opening her business in 2014.

Jorge offered empanadas to the Morgantown community at the county fair, farmers markets, and other local events in the early years. Now, Sauté by René offers catering, meal delivery, and cooking classes.

“We’re a small business that desires to feed people with good food,” said Jorge.

Helping her to realize this dream are her two children, who occasionally crack an egg or two. Jorge is committed to simple ingredients, farm-fresh flavors, and high-quality service.

Traveling as far as Maryland and the North Central region of West Virginia, Jorge aspires to open a storefront location in Morgantown –– one where customers can see and experience her food from beginning to end.

Working in a variety of award-winning restaurants, Jorge has served at nearly every station in the kitchen. Continuing to lean on these skills, Jorge labors each day to offer excellent service without compromising the flavor of her plates.
